Susanne Sanborn, age 77, of Mishicot, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 31, 1948, in Manitowoc, Susanne was the daughter of Earl and Dorothy (Lepich) Bernhardt. She grew up in the area and graduated from Mishicot High School. On November 17, 1979, she married Dale Sanborn in Manitowoc. The couple shared many happy years together until Dale’s passing in 2015.

A talented beautician, Susanne worked for many years at Lords and Ladies Salon in Manitowoc, where she was affectionately known as “Anne.” She continued doing hair for her cherished clients right up until the end. She truly loved her customers and coworkers and took great pride in the special friendships she formed over decades in the chair.

Susanne had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved cats, who brought her constant joy. She also possessed a remarkable green thumb and was well known in Mishicot as the lady with the beautiful rose garden next to Holy Cross Church. Her flowers brightened the community for many years.

She fought a courageous battle with cancer and remained strong and gracious to the very end. Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the hospice nurses for their compassionate care and support.

Susanne is survived by her son, Jody (Leela) Samz; daughter, Sherry Samz (William Barbier); and her beloved grandson, Jack Samz, whom she loved dearly and cherished with all her heart. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Tina Crothers, Debra (Lance) Myers, Trudy (Robert) McCloud, and Troy (Michaela) Moede; and her loving siblings, Dale (Marla) Bernhardt, Jeanie Avery, and Carol (Bruce Berres), with whom she shared a special bond. She will also be missed by many other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Dorothy Bernhardt, and her husband, Dale Sanborn.

A celebration of Susanne’s life will be held at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home located at 344 S State Street in Mishicot, WI on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will conclude the visitation at 11:00 a.m. led by Pastor Colie Bettivia. Lunch will be provided following the service at Good Times located at 16607 County Road B, Mishicot.
