Richard E. Meissner, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025.
Richard was born in Shoto on November 19, 1938 to Wilmer and Joyce (Schwantes) Meissner.
He graduated with the class of 1956 from Mishicot High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. Receiving his honorable discharge in 1958 he returned home and began working at Smalley Manufacturing along with working on the family farm. On October 14, 1961 he married Ann Rau in Two Rivers.
In 1976 he bought his parents dairy farm in the Town of Two Rivers (Shoto). Richard and Ann farmed until 2004 when they sold the farm and moved to Mishicot. Not ready to fully retire Richard was employed for 19 years cutting grass on the golf courses at Fox Hills in Mishicot retiring in 2023 at the age of 84. He was an avid bowler bowling for Eis Structure Movers at the Badger Bowl. At the age of 21 he joined the Town of Two Rivers Fire Department. He served 37 years, the last 7 as Fire Chief. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Mishicot.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; his children: James (Lisa) of Brillion, Leanne (Philip) Walters of Manitowoc, Robert (Julie) of Newton, and Neil (Amy) of Cleveland. Grandpa to eight grandchildren: Brittany, Lydia (Bryan Gielau), Emily, Luke, Elly, Colby, Gavin and Ethan and two great granddaughters: Rylee and Alexus. He is further survived by his sister Sharon Stern and brother David (Dianne) Meissner. He was preceded in death by an infant son Terry, his parents Wilmer and Joyce Meissner, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Clyde and Irene Rau, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bud and Sonja Rau, brother-in-law Tom Stern and brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Joan Meissner.
Private family services were held along with military gravesite honors with Pastor Joel Stuebs presiding. Entombment in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum.
