Obituary

Leah Wavrunek, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025 at Meadow View Assisted Living, Two Rivers.

Leah Marie was born in Two Rivers on August 3rd, 1946 to Roy A. and Stella (Brin) Kahrs. She attended St. Mark’s Catholic School and graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers with the class of 1964. Leah married Allen G. Wavrunek on April 12, 1969 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Her brother, Rev. Lee Kahrs officiated the wedding. Allen preceded her in death on June 18, 2004.

Leah started working part time her senior year in high school for the law firm Larkin and Olson in Two Rivers. After graduation she continued working there full time until June 1969 when she quit to help Allen on the family farm. She went back to work in August of 2004 on her daughter and son-in-law’s farm. She would work there until June of 2009 when she fully retired. She continued to help her sons on the family farm.

She is survived by her five children: Michael and Lynette Wavrunek of Two Rivers, Lisa and Michael Meyers of Two Rivers, Jodie and Sal Parma of Kewaunee, Julie and Marvin Schleis of Kewaunee and Randall and Cheryl Wavrunek of Two Rivers. She is further survived by seven grandchildren: Miranda Anderson, Jacob Wavrunek (fiancee Katie Aldrich), Taylor Schleis (special friend Wyatt Nuthals), Nicholas Parma, Delana Parma, PVT Hayden Manjarrez, and Brielle Manjarrez; along with four great-grandsons: Barrett, Koda, Chet and Tatum. She is also survived by one sister, Lois Bonnefoi of Manitowoc; one brother & sister-in-law, Louis and Marlene Kahrs of Rochester, MN; several brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Ronald and Doris Wavrunek, Manitowoc, Gerald and Gay Wavrunek, Two Rivers, Shirley Hein, Manitowoc, Milton and Janet Fonferek, Green Bay, Bernice and David Hagenow, Mishicot, Judy and Michael Schleis, Two Rivers, and Suzanne Riederer, Cato; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; her parents, Roy and Stella Kahrs; one brother, Rev. Lee Kahrs; father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Mabel (Sinkula) Wavrunek; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; F. Charles Bonnefoi, Jerry Hein, Beverly Fonferek, Kathleen Wavrunek and Greg Riederer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2025 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Christian Raj, assisted by Deacon Dave Scheuer, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mishicot.

Friends may call at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, 344 S. State Street in Mishicot from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening, December 21st. A prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7:00 p.m. led by Deacon Dave Scheuer. Visitation will continue at Holy Cross Catholic Church Monday morning after 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 11:00 a.m.
