June Surfus Haack, 89, formerly of Mishicot passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at Lakehouse Assisted Living facility surrounded by family.
June was born on June 7, 1935 in Sturgeon Bay WI to Cecil and Clarinda Surfus. She attended school in Sturgeon Bay. In October of 1952 she married Ray Haack in Alaska WI. Through 71 years of marriage they raised seven children – Debbie, Randy, Wendy, John, Rebecca, Donald and Pam. The family moved to Mishicot in 1959 which became their family home. In addition to raising seven children, June worked at her parent’s restaurant (Lunns Restaurant) as well as Crescent Woolen Mills and Paragon Electric.
June was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and encouraged her sisters to join her as well. This began her life long journey with her Savior. She was a faithful member of St Peters Lutheran Church in Mishicot and remained solid in her faith to the very end.
Ray and June enjoyed the camping life for many years at Mapleview Campground in Norman and were always willing to share their campfire with friends and family. After retirement, they wintered in Casa Grande, AZ for 10 years where they made many new friends and enjoyed new experiences. They also enjoyed gathering with Ray’s cousins to enjoy a meal and fellowship. One of their joys was to go for a ride and maybe a stop at Kewaunee Custard.
June will be remembered as a kind and caring person. She was always there to support her family. In her later years she took much joy in sharing the accomplishments of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. More importantly her love and support for her family will always be cherished and missed.
