John Merritt Rexses, 86, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, with his family by his side. John was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on October 31, 1939, to the late William and Geraldine Rexses. After moving to Fond du Lac, John enjoyed playing basketball at North Fond du Lac High School and later at Sault Ste. Marie High School. He continued his education following in his fathers’ footsteps becoming a pipefitter. On September 17, 1960, John married Ida Frances Baccari in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After a few years of traveling, he settled down with his wife Ida and their three children in Mishicot, WI.

John worked at Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant as the General Superintendent for Phillips Getschow company for 25 years. John retired in 1995 and split his time between Mishicot and Arizona. John loved golfing and even got a hole-in-one! He also enjoyed softball, attending all his grandchildren’s sporting events, keeping the referees in check, and family vacations with the entire family (stopping at every Cracker Barrel along the way). One of the highlights of John’s life was in 1975 when he saw Elvis perform live in Las Vegas.

John is survived by his loving wife, Ida; their three children, Lisa Rexses of Menasha, William F. (Lori) Rexses of Two Rivers, Julie (Bill) Breider of Menasha; grandchildren; Rachel (David) Vento, Jacque (Randy) Wiebensohn, BJ Rexses, Billy (Courtney) Breider, Katrina (Brandon) St. Peter, Alyssa Breider, AJ (Katie) Rojo, as well as 9 great-grandchildren. John is further survived by relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Geraldine Rexses; brothers, Bill Rexses and Don Rexses; sisters, Mary Helz and Sharon Rexses.

A visitation will be held at Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home in Mishicot on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
