Joanne Carol (Schroeder) Kasten passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Wisteria Haus assisted living in Two Rivers.
Joanne was born in Manitowoc on January 5, 1932, beloved daughter of the late Herbert and Gertrude (Toebe) Schroeder. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1950. On June 5, 1954, she married Everett G. Kasten at Immanual Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. They were blessed with more than 65 years of marriage, until Everett’s passing in 2020. She spent time working for Mirro, Baugniet Mink Ranch, Grielings Farms, and Fox Hills, as well as working with Everett operating the Kasten family farm along with raising the family of 5. She was also a long-time member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibson.
Joanne is survived by her loving family, including four children: Larry (Patricia) Kasten of Mishicot, Kris (Joe) Jarvais of Bear Creek, Jamie “Jak” (Jennifer) Kasten of Two Rivers, and Kammie Faulks of Kewaunee; her eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Andy) Watry, Jeremy (Heather) Kasten, Justin Bratz, Kyle Bratz, C.J. Christman (Tiffany), Simon (Chelsea) Kasten, Kiyanna (Mike) Faulks, and Piper Kasten; four step-grandchildren: Marcy, Belinda, Aaron, and Nate; 11 adored great-grandchildren, and four dear great-great-grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren, and one step great-great grandchild. She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Everett, her parents Herbert and Gertrude Schroeder, her son Cory, her four brothers Donald, Robert, John, and Edward Schroeder, and 3 sisters-in-law Esther Pleuss, Betty Schroeder and Jean Schroeder, two brothers-in-law, Victor Cherney and Paul Pleuss.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 11th at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibson. Prior to the service, Joanne’s family will receive visitors from 9-11am at St. John’s. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Wisteria Haus and her visiting nurses, Crystal and Wendy, for their loving care and patience as well as to the EMTs for their effort and professionalism.
Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting the family with arrangements.
