Obituary

Jeanette Fictum, age 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, late Friday evening, May 29, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.

Jeanette was born on February 9, 1953, to the late Fred and Alice (Wallau) Ahrens in Manitowoc. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1971. She went on to further her education at Lakeshore Technical Institute earning her Licensed Practical Nursing degree in 1972. Jeanette started off her nursing career with Manitowoc County, then Two Rivers Community Hospital, eventually finishing her career off at the Aurora Health Clinic in Two Rivers. She was proud to be a finalist for the Florence Nightingale Award.

On April 27, 1974, she was united in marriage to Joseph Fictum. The couple was blessed with 52 loving years of marriage and two children.

In her free time, she enjoyed bowling and boating with her husband, attending her son’s sporting events, driving her daughter to baton twirling competitions; over the years turned into attending her grandchildren’s events and being there for all their milestones. She deeply loved her grandchildren and was always there to care for them whenever they needed her. As a nurse, Jeanette was always a true advocate for all her patients and cared deeply for every person she helped. Jeanette loved her family and friends and valued her bonds and friendships she built over the years.

Jeanette will be missed by her loving husband, Joseph, her children, Sarah (Chris) Mireski of Fond du Lac, Michael (Nicole) Fictum of Maribel; her grandchildren, Emma Fictum, Ethan Fictum, Micayla Mireski; a sister, Betty Szecsei; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Alice Ahrens; her mother and father-in-law, Ivan and Marie Fictum; a brother and sister-in-law, Don (Joyce) Sheahan; and a brother-in-law, Stanley Schoenborn.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home. The visitation will continue at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot, on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Leo Kondru with burial to take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Kossuth.

The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jeanettes family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and CNA’s at Aurora Medical Center and of Aurora Hospice for their wonderful care extended to Jeanette.
