IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy A.
Kobes
September 4, 1934 – December 5, 2025
Dorothy A. Kobes, age 91, peacefully entered eternal life at her home on the morning of December 5th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy was born September 4, 1934 in Denmark to Bernard and Angeline Czarneski. On October 24, 1953 she married James Kobes at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pine Grove. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2018.
Together they cherished summers Up North with family and friends; fishing, playing cards, homemade “fish fries” and grandma’s famous “chicken booyah.” Their love and those simple moments became traditions that will live on for generations.
Dorothy loved children, and was known as Grandma Dorothy to so many. She found joy in raising her children and babysitting grandchildren and caring for so many others. She will be remembered for her generous heart in the way she made each one of us feel special and loved.
She also enjoyed many years with her family selling pumpkins for Wilfert Farms, creating memories filled with laughter, hard work, and togetherness.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children: Dalen Kobes (friend Janice Theriault), Gary (Ruth) Kobes, Karen (Daniel) Bauknecht, Larry Kobes, Gene (Lynn) Kobes, and Janice (John) LeClair. Her legacy of love will live on through her 16 grandchildren: Jessica LeClair, Nicole Kobes, Amanda Haag, Aaron Kobes, Sarah Kunz, Amy Sampe, Scott Bauknecht, Jacob Kobes, Cassandra Federer, Jerod Kobes, Lindsey Robertson, Gaven Kobes, Laura Ebbers, Jennifer Trochlell, Rebecca Schmidt, Erik Morreau; and by her 29 great-grandchildren that she loved visiting with. She is further survived by her sister, Evie Voss; nieces, nephews, and special friends Betty and Ronald Siebold.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Joe and Al Czarneski; and sisters: Emily Kaminski, Florence Ferron, and Margie Kiel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot. Rev. Christian Raj will preside at the service, with entombment in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, 344 So. State St. in Mishicot. A prayer service led by Fr. Leo will conclude the visitation at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue Friday morning at the church after 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
