Obituary

Carol M. Koeppel, age 90, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, April 30, 2026, at St. Mary’s nursing home in Manitowoc.

Carol was born on March 23, 1936, in Two Creeks, WI to the late Alois and Pauline M. (Benesch) Kraus. On June 7, 1958, she was united in marriage to James Koeppel. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2019.

Carol owned and operated Koeppel’s La Fiesta for over 30 years and enjoyed quilting and sewing in her retirement.

Survivors include her children, Michael (Michele) Koeppel, David (Brenda) Koeppel, Sandra (Shaun) Burke, Mark (Michelle) Koeppel; her grandchildren, Katie, Frank (significant other, Kendall Renard), Julie, Jacob (Heather), Carissa (significant other, Luke Metzler), Evan, Ethan, Meghan, and Garrett; and 5 great-grandchildren, Elliot, James, Hallie, Jackson, and Levi. She is further survived by a sister, Marian Krause, sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Krause and J’ette Koeppel. Many nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her parents, Alois and Pauline, and her husband, James, she was preceded in death by her son, Frankie Koeppel, brothers, George (Joan) Krause, Sr., and James Krause. Sisters-in-law, Shirley (Robert) Wilfert, Marion (Donald) Stefaniak, and a brother-in-law, Lester Koeppel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, with Father Dave Pleier officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.

There will be no Sunday evening visitation.
